Conference summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has revolutionized the way we live, relate with each other and how we work. The dentistry sector, considered a sensitive profession, was very affected by forcing clinics to close for approximately 2 months. This new reality resulted on an adaptation of clinical practice, so that the safety, not only for patients, but also for medical teams is guaranteed. New protocols were implemented, including the readaptation of personal protective equipment, reconfiguration of disinfection of surfaces, sterilization circuits and circulation rules inside dental clinics. Although, there are still basic and controversial points that demand the attention of health professionals, which can create doubts regarding their performance and adaption in clinical practice. Although numerous studies are underway to answer these questions, the critical evaluation of these articles is essential, since there is still no clear knowledge of the mechanisms of action and pathophysiology of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Every day a lot of articles are published within the scope of COVID-19 in the most diverse sources of information, nevertheless, it is imperative to understand their scientific robustness.

In this conference we will make a call to the most critical points in the practice of Dentistry in the context of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.
