Conference summary
Periodontology as an area of dental medicine that prevents, diagnoses and treats the periodontal tissues supporting the teeth, plays a fundamental role in the survival and function of natural dental pieces, and consequently in the maintenance of oral health throughout life.
The technical and technological advances of these last two decades have allowed to increase the survival of teeth in health conditions and periodontal function, assuming some predictability of the regenerative treatment of teeth with very compromised, or even apparently lost, periodontal prognosis.
Minimally invasive techniques enhanced by biological regenerators such as enamel matrix proteins derived from the single-application or in combination with other osteoconductive / barrier materials, have shown consistent results in the long-term maintenance of periodontal compromised teeth.
Often key parts in total rehabilitation, orthodontic treatments, fixed rehabilitation pillars, treated natural periodontal compromised teeth ensure the patients’ masticatory / esthetic function in a stable and long-term way, postponing the irreversibility of replacing a natural tooth by a dental implant.
This conference aims to update the state of the art with regard to the real clinical possibilities of treatment and maintenance of periodontal compromised teeth and their contribution to the full oral function of patients.
