Conference summary
External cervical resorption (ECR) is a pathologic loss of hard dental tissue cause by the action of clastic cells. It initiates on the external surface of the root underneath the junctional epithelium and as a result it is mainly found on the cervical third of the teeth. Due to its initially insidious progression, the diagnosis can be challenging. The management requires a good understanding of the location, extension and true nature of the lesion. CBCT is an invaluable tool particularly when the information obtained by periapical radiographs and clinical examination is insufficient.
