Conference summary

The use of platelet concentrates as a surgical adjuvant is based on the concept of local release of platelet growth factors to promote healing or regeneration of hard and soft tissues.

It aims to separate the different components of the blood sample to rule out those considered useless (mainly red blood cells), and to concentrate those that may be of therapeutic utility (fibrinogen / fibrin, platelets, growth factors, leukocytes and other forms of circulating cells).

The literature on this subject often appears confusing and contradictory due to a lack of precision in the terminology and characterization of the different platelet concentrates and protocol for obtaining them.

At present there is a consensus regarding the use of this terminology and classification as a basis in multiple fields, particularly in the disciplines of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

In this conference we will present suitable therapeutic indications in the field of periodontology and implantology. Thus, we will show preliminary results of “in vitro” and clinical studies conducted at our University
