Conference summary

The landscape of modern medicine is rapidly evolving, shaped by interdisciplinary advances and an urgent need to address complex chronic diseases that conventional paradigms struggle to resolve.

Contemporary medicine is at a turning point! Technological advances in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and precision medicine are transforming clinical practice, enabling earlier diagnoses, personalised therapies, and more effective patient follow-up.

However, this future should not be seen merely as the incorporation of technological innovation, but as an opportunity to integrate different dimensions of human care, namely the need for oral health to be more incorporated into health services!

Functional and integrative health is emerging as an essential pillar in this new paradigm, valuing the person as a whole – body, mind and spirit – and through a synthesis of conventional medicine and complementary therapeutic practices based on scientific evidence. This model promotes a more humanised, patient-centred approach, focused not only on disease, but also on prevention, well-being and quality of life.

Under the theme ‘The future of medicine as we know it: towards advanced medicine’, this presentation explores an integrated vision of healthcare that harmonises cutting-edge technologies with holistic, patient-centred health philosophies.

Advances in biomedical science are transforming healthcare worldwide, building bridges between innovation and clinical application.

This presentation will explore cutting-edge therapeutic strategies that are reshaping the medical landscape, focusing on regenerative medicine (using mesenchymal stromal cell therapy and exosomes) and principles of integrative medicine (using techniques such as therapeutic apheresis, medical ozone therapy, photobiomodulation, and others).

By combining biotechnological advances with systems-based care, this presentation highlights a paradigm shift towards personalised, predictive and preventive medicine. The future of medicine is not far off – it is being shaped today by these pioneering approaches that promise to extend health, increase resilience and redefine therapeutic potential in clinical practice.

As this presentation will illustrate, the medicine of the future is already being practised today by pioneering healthcare professionals who integrate science, innovation, and empathy with compassion.

The therapeutic tools are at our disposal, knowledge is expanding! And the imperative is clear: to redefine what is possible in healing through an integrated, regenerative, and forward-thinking medical model.
