Conference summary
After the end of the active phase of orthodontic treatment, dentition should stay in an aesthetic, functionable and stable position. Unfortunately relapse factors are present since the end of the treatment, making retention phase as important as the active phase of treatment and a key point in patient satisfaction. Relapse should be anticipated in accordance to treatment plan, and should be reevaluated at the end of the active treatment phase.
Although relapse is a key point in orthodontic treatment it is unusual in public presentations.
In this conference the author illustrates and discuss several cases that, unfortunately, are representative of relapse factors.
