Conference summary

The puzzle. The relationship that is established with a child is the cornerstone of the dental assistant’s role.
The adult requires only a one-to-one, essentially focused relationship between dentist and patient, an almost perfect fit between the way they relate and operate in the treatment. The adult regulates the pieces, controls behavior, overcomes pain (or not always). The relationship that we will create with the dentist in our childhood can be essential for oral health throughout life’s development.
The role of the dental assistant in the behavioral control of the pediatric patient is not only fundamental in terms of the relationship with the child, but also in terms of the relationship with the child’s parents.
The importance of this unifying contact will become evident when the control techniques are described.
Controlling child behavior is an integral component of pediatric dentistry practice.
Over time, the practice of using anesthesia has decreased, and the need to involve parents in the decision-making process has increased.
Preparation, involvement and effectiveness are crucial in assistant management.
Characteristics in terms of assertiveness, regulation and organization are essential to help the patient feel more secure.
