Conference summary

Medical emergencies are unexpected situations that can happen at any time and threaten the life and wellness of the patient. Dental care has some characteristics that may contribute to the occurrence of emergency situations such as dental stress and anxiety, accidental intravascular injection of local anesthetics, drug interactions, airway complications due to obstruction or sedation and even allergic reactions.
Therefore, the objective of this conference will be present and debate preventive measures that must be practiced by dentists, as well as maneuvers, medications and equipment recommended for basic care of emergency situations in the dental environment. In addition, it will be addressed the need for constant training and preparation of dentists according to current guidelines for Basic Life Support and use of the external automatic defibrillator in situations of cardiorespiratory arrest.
