Conference summary
There is an increasing need of extensive rehabilitations in restorative, esthetic or interdisciplinary treatments. Several reasons are responsible for this demand:
- increase of lifespan and maintenance of teeth which demands more complex rehabilitation than the “simple” rehabilitation of the edentulous patient
- high incidence of worn dentitions that require a full mouth approach, increasing vertical dimension to create restorative space and protect dental tissues
- to optimize the esthetic result in rehabilitations that is sometimes compromised is approaches limited to upper anterior teeth.
- in adult orthodontic treatments that usually needs an inter-disciplinary collaboration to guide movements and finish the cases restoratively with a correct occlusal function
For all these reasons it is essential that that the restorative dentist has a global inter-disciplinary thinking. This will not only be more helpful for his patients and but will also provide professional fulfillment for doing these challenging cases.
In this presentation, several clinical decisions will be discussed, from diagnosis to treatment, reflecting a simplifying approach to help treat extensive cases in a logical and predictable way.
