Summary of the presentation

Everything indicates that the dynamic balance of the biofilm in the oral cavity is the factor that will contribute most to individual oral health promotion.

The principles that currently support the diferent protocols for action under the Preventive and Community Dentistry is the result of a long evolution of both concepts, or devices, or even the strategies of health literacy at the individual and community level.

The access to and efficient use of different methods of control should oral biofilms remain a major challenge for the daily practice of dentists, however, it appears that the uptake by individuals to a proper daily oral hygiene continues to be deficient and often taking as the determinant of health that will further compromise the success of the full range of oral treatments performed.

In this talk we intend to highlight strategies to promote oral hygiene and provide the latest clinical indications in the control of oral biofilms.
