Summary of the presentation

Except for a few rare situations, pathologies that require oral rehabilitation result from evolutionary processes that are concomitant with the respective adaptation process to the onset of the pathology.

When the clinician decides to move ahead and rehabilitate edentulous patients, he plans to set in motion specific measures aiming at, among other things, restoring the ideal occlusion.

The OVD is considered a paradigm in oral rehabilitation, since this procedure focus chiefly on any alterations on the OVD.

The purpose of this project is to present the ISCSEM’s Oral Rehabilitation Team’s approach on the treatment of partially edentulous patients, together with the modern concepts and best evidence on OVD and Oral Rehabilitation.
