Summary of the presentation

Through the years, it has become obvious that the complex field of eshetic rehabilitation in fixed prosthodontics would require the optimization of several important variables to enhance the changes of success.

These include proper material selection and design; an understanding and evaluation of the biologic interaction between crowns and soft tissue; a careful and controlled multidisciplinary approach between various specialties to optimize patient expectations and follow-up care.

The scientific basis for clinical decisions regarding prosthodontic therapy is current knowledge of treatment outcome.

This lecture will ilustrate different treatment options of situations presenting challenging dilemmas.

From identifying the problem and the selection of the best transitional restoration to the definitive solution; limitations, advantages and disadvantes of different all-ceramic materials will be presented and discussed.
