Conference summary
Clinical practice in Orthodontics is characterized by the existence of multiple therapeutic options for the same problem, reflecting different treatment philosophies, levels of experience, and clinical priorities.
This session aims to promote critical discussion of clinical cases in which different therapeutic approaches are possible.
Several clinical cases will be presented whose resolution allows for more than one treatment strategy. For each case, participants and the audience will be invited to discuss the different therapeutic alternatives, weigh their advantages, limitations, and biomechanical, functional, and aesthetic implications, and share their treatment options.
After the discussion, the approach actually implemented will be presented, justifying the clinical decision-making, as well as the evolution of the treatment and the final results obtained.
The intention, therefore, is to stimulate clinical reasoning, decision-making based on scientific evidence and clinical experience, as well as to demonstrate that different clinical sensitivities can lead to distinct, but equally valid, therapeutic solutions when adequately grounded and focused on the patient's benefit.
