Conference summary

Dental imaging is an important tool in diagnosis and treatment planning in dentistry. In this context, the dental assistant plays a fundamental role, acting as a link between technology, the oral health professional, and the patient.

Their effective, ethical, and safe performance is crucial for clinical success and for ensuring radiological safety. Among their competencies are technical proficiency in various types of radiographs, proper preparation of the patient and equipment, accurate image processing, and strict compliance with radiological protection standards.

Best practices also include clear and empathetic communication with the patient, efficient organization of clinical data, continuous updates regarding technological innovations, and active collaboration with the clinical team.

In a scenario of constant technological evolution, the role of the dental assistant is undergoing transformation.

The integration of artificial intelligence in diagnostics, the digitization of clinical records, and the growing use of three-dimensional imaging require these professionals to adopt a proactive attitude and continuous training to achieve professional excellence.
