Conference summary

By attending this lecture, you will gain an understanding of the different techniques that the inherent characteristics of composite allow the clinician to explore. This concise and objective presentation will help you develop and maximize the full potential of these materials.

In addition to technical insights, the lecture will encourage critical thinking about the clinical decision-making process when working with composite materials.

Emphasis will be placed on case selection, material limitations, and evidence-based approaches that lead to predictable, long-lasting aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Topics include dental photography applied to diagnosis and clinical documentation, aesthetic planning, the principles of modern adhesion and the clinical criteria that guide the selective removal of unsatisfactory restorations.

We will also discuss the correct selection of composites according to the complexity of the case, highlighting the importance of isolation — both relative and absolute — and proposing a rational, predictable, and efficient stratification sequence.

Light curing will be critically analyzed, with an emphasis on the factors that impact the clinical longevity of restorations.

We will conclude with optimized finishing and polishing protocols, essential to achieve natural, long-lasting and comfortable results for the patient.
