Conference summary
Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a non-invasive therapeutic modality that employs specific wavelengths and low powers, generated by laser instruments.
In dentistry, PBM has been gaining increasing prominence, being indicated in a variety of clinical situations.
Among these are analgesia, treatment of neuropathies, dentin hypersensitivity, reduction of inflammation, acceleration of healing, and treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Its usefulness is particularly relevant in patients undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy, particularly in cases of oral mucositis, radiogenic or drug-induced osteonecrosis, constituting an area of particular current interest.
The objective of this lecture is to integrate the use of PBM with Laser into the clinical practice of dentists within the scope of the OMD Sectoral Competencies.
