The future of dentistry involves a transition from a model focused on the volume of procedures to one based on the value created for the patient.
The concept of Value-Based Dentistry proposes systematically measuring clinical outcomes and patient-reported outcomes (PROMs and PREMs), relating them to the actual costs of the complete care cycle. Only then is it possible to understand the true value equation.
This conference will discuss how the value-based approach can respond to three interrelated crises that also affect dentistry: the value crisis (rising costs with limited benefits), the evidence crisis (disconnect between evidence and clinical practice) and the purpose crisis (professional pressure and resistance to change).
The integration of meaningful data, the definition of consistent indicators and the cultural transformation of oral health organisations will be highlighted as ways to achieve a more sustainable, transparent and patient-centred dental practice that rewards those who do better, not those who do more!
