Conference summary

This review discusses the indications for distraction osteogenesis in the reconstruction of oromaxillofacial defects, particularly dentoalveolar defects, and in preparation for rehabilitation with dental implants.

The most relevant technical aspects of the technique will be discussed, as well as its advantages and disadvantages compared to other reconstructive techniques, with the presentation of illustrative clinical cases.
