Conference summary
Periodontal treatment is closely linked to the bacterial etiology of the various forms of periodontal pathologies. However, it was only after the publication of the work on “Experimental Gingivitis” by Løe and collaborators in the mid-60s that, truly, it can be said that periodontology takes a scientific direction.
It was at that time that the establishment of the cause/effect relationship, of the true etiology of periodontal disease, was, in fact, defined. During our presentation, we will try to introspect what our clinical practice has been over the last 35 years and what were the determinants that influenced us and made us evolve and try to perfect our periodontal treatment, never losing sight of improving the well-being of the patient.
During this “evolution”, not always dictated by scientific evidence, we will explain how we modified clinical protocols to better serve our periodontal patients.
