Conference summary
Modern orthodontic and its acceptance by patients is closely associated with aesthetic orthodontic appliances transformation: conventional metal braces gave way to aesthetic fixed appliances, plastic dental aligners and lingual orthodontic development. However, the concept of aesthetics is subjective, linked to perception or comparison phenomena.
On the other hand, adult orthodontics has grown considerably in recent years, not only because of aesthetic orthodontic appliances proliferation, but also due to the possibility of treating more complex cases using skeletal anchorage.
These two factors are the great evolution of modern orthodontics and its acceptation by patients. The challenge of this lecture is to know in what extent current aesthetic appliances match the effectiveness of modern orthodontic mechanics.
