Conference summary

Radiotherapy (RT) is an important tool for the treatment and palliation of head and neck oncological patients.

However, there are several side effects associated that may contribute not only to a deterioration of the patient’s quality of life, as well as to the limitation or even interruption of the ideal therapeutic scheme, as is the case of mucositis.

It is the oral health professional’s responsibility to evaluate and guide the patient subject to radiotherapy of the head and neck, in order to implement prophylactic measures, during and after the course of treatment, in order to reduce its morbidity and improve the patients adhesion.
