Conference summary
Cancer is the main cause of death in children and adolescents in developed countries and the majority of cancers are curable.
Follow up in odontopediatrics is important since the moment oncological disease is diagnosed. As so, the objective of this conference is to explore the role of odontopediatrics in screening and prevention of acute and late complications associated with the oncological treatment, considering the clinical and laboratorial specificities of children and adolescents.
The survivor’s number is also increasing and that is why the long term follow up of children and adolescents is crucial. It requires a multidisciplinary approach, which includes surveillance of possible late effects and second neoplasms.
