Conference summary

The effectiveness of a team is only as good as its ability to communicate. Indeed, actions such as building trust, sharing knowledge, making decisions, and asking for help all require good communication.

The context of the dental clinic has particularities that make communication even more essential: work in the office occurs in a physically small space with high emotional tension, where everyone needs to be comfortable and competent in their role.

In this conference, we will focus on essential and practical principles of communication that can be applied to:

  • discuss your ideas;
  • handle conflicts and be resilient;
  • negotiate responsibilities and tasks;
  • communicate your personal value and recognise that of others;
  • respect and feel respected in the patient relationship.

The methodology will be active, aiming to demonstrate the concepts clearly and accessibly through brief exercises and to experience how to apply them. The foundations of this conference are derived from both theory and real practice in the context of dentistry.

The goal of the conference is to strengthen the ability to build collaborative working relationships with peers, clinical team, and patients.
