Conference summary
Over time, treatment with dental implants has become an increasingly predictable treatment option, as a result of scientific and technological advances.
Despite this, each failure situation constitutes a frustration and a challenge for the patient and for the clinician.
A correct diagnosis and planning of the case makes it possible to avoid or anticipate some of the complications, and it is essential that the dentist who places implants is well aware of the existing risk factors.
The authors will discuss the latest advances in diagnostics in implantology, the current scientific evidence regarding risk factors in implant treatment, and the prevention and treatment of complications of different nature.
As the number of implants placed annually increases, so does the number of complications, requiring the clinician to be able to diagnose and treat them.
The ultimate goal will be to provide patients with predictable treatments with adequate longevity.
