Conference summary

In order to make an analogy between the different Portuguese-speaking countries, an overview of teaching in dental medicine in Portugal will be carried out, namely the number of existing teaching institutions, course duration, continuous training, national congresses and the employment situation of the recent graduates in their first years.

In this panel, we will also explore the actions of higher education institutions that can improve the conditions of students from Portuguese-speaking African Countries, thus implementing the resolutions set out for the Portuguese Cooperation Policy in terms of education and dissemination of language and culture. Portuguese, also contributing to the development of those countries.

It is also intended to open a brief discussion on teaching aimed at literacy and communication with the patient, with methods such as “Problem based learning” or “peer-assisted learning” and also the need for universities to recognize prevention as central in all areas. of dentistry, and not exclusively in pediatric dentistry or public health.
