Article One

It is hereby established that the ¿Gold Medal of the Portuguese Dental Association¿ award be granted to dentists or other persons who have made a significant and indisputable contribution to the development of dentistry in Portugal ¿ whether at the technical and scientific level or concerning the defence of public health ¿, which is in full accord with the mission and principles ruling the Portuguese Dental Association.

Article Two

This distinction shall be awarded after deliberation of the OMD¿s Board of Directors, by the proposal put forward by its chairman or by any of its members.

Article Three

Those who have received the Gold Medal of the Portuguese Dental Association shall be entitled to wear this decoration in every formal event promoted by the OMD.

Article Four

The Gold Medal of the Portuguese Dental Association shall be solemnly awarded by the President of the Portuguese Dental Association, and the event shall be properly publicised.

Article Five

The design and shape of the Gold Medal of the Portuguese Dental Association are described in an appendix. The medal shall be attached to a yellow damask ribbon.
