The Board of Directors of the Portuguese Dental Association has decided to establish the "Gold Medal of the Portuguese Dental Association" award and to approve the respective bestowal regulations.

This decision of the Board of Directors has taken into account the relevance of the OMD granting a commendation to dentists or any other professionals who, by their actions or personal merits, have made a significant and indisputable contribution to the development of dentistry in Portugal - whether at the technical and scientific level or concerning the defence of public health -, which is in accord with the mission and principles of the Portuguese Dental Association.
