Article 40

Election

The secretary-general shall be elected by the general assembly, made up of all dentists currently registered, in compliance with these statutes.

Article 41

Competence

1- It is within the competence of the secretary-general to:

a) preside over the board of directors, casting a decisive vote in case of a tie;

b) perform, when imperative, the responsibilities of the board of directors;

c) let the president of the OMD know of all the decisions made by the board of directors;

d) collaborate with the president of the OMD in the implementation of the general assembly and the board of directors¿ resolutions;

e) define, in harmony with the president of the OMD, the position of this organization before the government authorities and the Administration in that which concerns the OMD's competence and goals;

f) express, in collaboration with the president of the OMD, the position of this organization regarding bills which concern the practice of dentistry, and put forward the amendments considered relevant;

g) elaborate, under the supervision of the president of the OMD, the proposed budget for the following calendar year;

h) elaborate, under the supervision of the president of the OMD, the proposed plan of activities for the following year;

i) appeal to the ethics and professional conduct committee any resolution of the OMD's ruling bodies, which may be in breach of these statutes, the legislation in force or the interests of the OMD and its members;

j) request from the OMD's ruling bodies or its members, by his or her own initiative or upon request by the president of the OMD, the elaboration of reports about any issues that may concern the OMD;

1) carry out the budgetary expenditures within his or her competence;

m) collaborate with the president of the OMD whenever requested to do so;

n) perform the duties specifically delegated by the president of the OMD;

o) demand the resignation or temporary suspension of the board of directors.

2 - The secretary-general may delegate one or more responsibilities to any member of the board of directors.
